CHICKEN TAVA RECIPE
The Chicken Tava recipe is a very popular and loveable recipe in India. It is made on tava, (tava means iron griddle) it is commonly used in India for making roti, naan etc. I tried it firstly in restaurants and I like chicken tava very much. That's why I thought to share the whole chicken tava recipe with you. Let's see how to make chicken tava step by step.
INGREDIENTS
- Boneless Chicken 250g
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 3 tbsp Mustard oil
- 1 small onion
- 1 medium tomato
- Inch ginger
- 3 to 4 green chilies
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1.5 tbsp butter
- Chopped cilantro
FOR TAVA MASALA
- 1.5 tsp cumin seed
- Inch cinnamon stick
- 2 tsp coriander seed
- 4 to 6 black peppers
- 2 to 3 bay leaves
- 2 to 3 cloves
- 1 to 2 cardamom seed
INSTRUCTION
- Wash the chicken and cut it into pieces then add 1/2 tbsp salt, 1/2 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp garlic paste and rest it.
- After that dry roast the list for making tava masala and let them cool down at room temperature, and grind them, make a powder.
- Cut the onions, and tomatoes into half-moons. Half the green chilies.
- Heat the tava on medium flame and add oil, once it turns smokey then add onion, tomato, tomato puree, ginger, and green chili at once and cook than 4 to 5 minutes until it turns into a dark shade.
- Then add the marinated chicken and mix them well and spread the chicken in a single layer in tava and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Flip the chicken and cook until you see the chicken getting a bit charred.
- After that add the butter (ketchup if you want) then cook it for 1 to 2 minutes and turn off the stove. (for dry free version skip the butter)
- Garnish chicken tava with cilantro and lemon juice and enjoy.
NOTE
- For making extra saucy just add 3/4 cup tomato puree, other things remain the same.
- You can make it vegetarian by using paneer, mushrooms, and balanced vegetables in the place of chicken.
