OATS DOSA RECIPE

OATS DOSA RECIPE

Dosa is a traditional South Indian dish primarily made from rice, but there are also various alternative recipes, such as quinoa dosa, rava dosa, and oat dosa, among others. In this comprehensive guide, I will share an oats dosa recipe, so let's get started and learn how to make it.

Oats Dosa Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2 cup Oats
  2. 1/4 cup Rice Flour
  3. 1/4 cup Semolina
  4. 1/2 tsp Salt
  5. 1/2 tsp Cumin
  6. 1 tbsp chopped Onion
  7. 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves
  8. 1 Curry Leaves
  9. 1/2 tsp Ginger
  10. 1 chopped Green Chili
  11. 1/4 cup Yoghurt
  12. 1 1/4 cup Water
  13. Oil (as per the need)

INSTRUCTION

  1. Add half a cup of oats to a grinder and grind them into a powder.
  2. Transfer the oat powder to a mixing bowl.
  3. Now, add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, 1/4 cup of rice flour, and 1/4 cup of fine semolina (rava).
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of chopped onions, 1 sprig of finely chopped curry leaves, 1 tablespoon of coriander leaves, 1/2 teaspoon of grated or minced ginger, 1 chopped green chili, and 1/4 cup of yoghurt. Additionally, add 1 1/4 cups of water, adjusting the amount to achieve the desired thickness.
  5. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Preheat a nonstick griddle to a low heat setting. Pour about ⅓ cup of batter onto the griddle and spread it out thinly using the back of a ladle or a measuring cup. Cook the dosa on medium heat until the bottom starts to turn golden brown. Once it's ready, add a small amount of ghee or oil to prevent sticking.

FOLDING TECHNIQUE

Using a flat spatula, gently remove the dosa from the edges of the griddle. Then, fold the dosa in half, starting from the edges and working your way towards the center. This folding technique helps to create a more compact and evenly cooked dosa. Serve the dosa immediately for the best results.

Remember, the key to perfect Dosa is to cook it on medium to low heat to ensure it cooks evenly and achieves a crispy, golden-brown exterior. Enjoy the process of making dosas and savor the unique taste of this innovative dish.

IMPORTANT STEP

Before moving on to make the next dosa, reduce the heat and clean the pan with wet paper towels. Alternatively, you can slice an onion in half and use the flat side to rub it on the pan. This technique helps cool the pan slightly, making it easier to spread the batter thinly and evenly.

Repeat the process with the remaining batter. Any leftover batter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.

SERVING SUGGESTION

Dosa pairs wonderfully with lentil soup, sambar, potato masala, and coconut chutney. Don't overlook the classic combination of dosa with creamy mango lassi or refreshing ginger lemonade! For a heartier brunch option, try serving it with Mango Chia Pudding.
